Vacation & Remembering Gizmo

Please visit Deetz's blog and send some hugs. Gizmo left for the Bridge yesterday.

May you have many wonderful meals, lots of hot dogs at the Bridge. Good-bye, l'il man.

My mom has a few seconds to write. We wanted to let everyone know we will miss them very much!! Of course, I'll miss my mom the most and she will miss me.

We're working one more hour here in the house then we're all going to bed. We have to get up at 4am! Everyone have a good week and weekend. We will be back next Wed. My mom will be home and will be off all day so we can catch up with our friends.

Bye!!

Yes, Busy and a Rainbow! & Daisy UPDATE

UPDATE: Daisy came through beautifully. The vet took 2 teeth. He used gas and she recovered instantly--all done within an hour. She's on anti-biotics and pain meds now. Her blood work was fabulous--BUN was 25 (good) and creatinine (sp?) was .7 and it has to be 1.4 to start to be bad. Just amazing. My mom says Daisy is in such good shape she's a freak of nature (said in a most loving way!)

My mom is leaving us on Thursday to visit her human family. She's going to drive to Virginia then she & her mom will fly to Milwaukee together to visit my mom's brother. This is where she will get to meet my cousin Cesar the white German shepherd. She will return next Wed. We all stay in the house and a petsitter comes to take care of us. The petsitter is my mom's best friend and she really loves us.

What that means is getting the house ready for her to be gone. There have to be a million towels washed. A hundred blankets washed so we can continue to live in beagle luxury. Furniture has to be moved so we can't jump up on things. My mom has to buy a bajillion pounds of dog food so we don't starve and has to put together Sasha's special diet in containers so the pet sitter can store it in her refrigerator. Plus she has to rent a car, get packed (this is a major deal), get projects in order at work so she can leave for a week. Phew.

Plus, she is taking our old Daisy in to the vet's tomorrow. They are going to clean Daisy's teeth while my mom waits, using gas to put her under since they can control that better. Then mom goes to work. Then she comes home, takes Laci & precious Graham to the rescuer's so they can care for him while she's gone. She'll get them back next week.

Then she lost her phone and emailed all her friends to call. She heard it under a pile of blankets finally. Her phone barks so we had to be quiet.

OMD, I need a nap now!

We received an award from our friends Phantom, Dakota & Thunder at The Chronicle of Woos. This is beautiful--my mother loves rainbows. They are happy things.

The rules of the award are:

We got an award and Graham sends pee-mail

We got an award from Thor! Thanks, Thor!!

"With the Premium Dardos, recognize the values that each blogger shows each day in commitment to transmit cultural values, ethical, literary, personal etc. that, in short, demonstrate their creativity by alive thinking that remains intact from their letters and words. " This label implies two rules: the first, link the blog to which he received the award. The second - pick blogs to deliver the prize."

I'd like to award this to Jan's Funny Farm and Alasandra and the Cats for their work in helping the furry community.

Today, we're hanging out on the big comfy couch, Davoo, Mousse and me, listening to Bitey howling his fool head off outside. We're letting him handle the guard duty today.

Then I decided on a little tug o' war:

But my mom didn't want to give up her robe.

Here is little *precious*. My mom thinks it's so cute. Graham's first baby pee-mail outside. Laci, the mama dog jumps off the deck and then that little dork tries to get milk from Natalie. How'd that go? Not too good.

Wordy Wednesday

Look what my friend, Charlie Daniels gave me! The Gold Paw Award--because I'm one of the top commenters on his blog. What a cool way to celebrate your friends! (it blinks with stars on his page but my mom can't get it to blink on this post)

My mom chickened out of taking Daisy in and asked the vet for anti-biotics instead. She is still taking old Daisy in on Thursday night to talk about what to do. She says she forgets how old Daisy is because Daisy is so lively and even likes to dance!Well, okay, after that teaser my mom tried to get a video of Daisy dancing but everytime the camera beeped Daisy ran. So we just fed her her medicine with a spoonful of yummy stuff.

Sunday with the Hounds

Here is some of the wind we're getting from Ike. This was a calm moment. We have mostly pines around here so the wind can be very noisy. Also we have lots of windchimes. Yes, we have a propane tank in the front yard. Yes, at least 10 hounds would be killed if the porch fell. Yes, sigh, we qualify as living rednecks even though my mom is a Yankee (check out Jeff Foxworthy's list of what makes a redneck). Then the wind stopped and the rain started. A nice gentle rain that soaked everything my mom had hanging up to dry. Life as a redneck is tough.

This is also a sad time for my mom. She grew up with Charles Chips--I'm talking 40 bazillion years of chips. She says they are the best chips ever made. They are going out of business. So, today, she opened up this huge can and spread them on the deck for us all to appreciate. Yeah, mom, they are the best chips (or like the only ones we've ever had).

Sasha and I are enjoying the last of the chips.

Natalie is such a kissy face. Who wouldn't love this girl hound?

Here is the baby mama. My mom is calling her Laci. She looks kinda crazy here. But she is a good girl, not too shy, but definitely has a problem with a hand coming from above so my mom only puts her hand underneath her chin.

Here is Miss Daisy, 18 years old. She is going in to the vet's tomorrow because her mouth smells like a sewer (I don't mind I don't understand the problem). It's been 2 years since her last teeth cleaning so we suspect something to do with a tooth. First, my mom will discuss things with the vets because Daisy is so old. She's in awfully good shape though.

Saturday with me & Graham

Here we are out on the deck in the sun. I admit I'm not much for puppies which is why my mom is trying to get me to look at Graham. I wouldn't hurt him, I promise, I just don't like being around those baby landshark teeth. MOM! He's looking at me!

You see how fast I'm moving my leg. Graham is all set to bite me!!

Here is Natalie in her new red collar checking on Graham. Look at that puppy. He is such a little poser.

Haha, he's going after Georgia now.

Mousse is checking out the safe end.

My mom is on call today so she has to stay by the computer. That works for me because I get a lot more smoochies.

Gas--ACK!!

This is what my mom said when she came home. She didn't know that gas stations would RUN OUT OF GAS today. Crazy people filling up their vehicles. She could only get premium to fill up our car. So she ran back to the store to buy lots and lots of dogfood and toilet paper (we canNOT run out of tp)--deliveries might be slow for a few weeks to stores. All because of Ike the hurricane coming onshore in Texas. Hope all our Gulf coast buddies are okay!!

Please visit our friend Deetzy's site and send them some hugs. His 'l'il man', Gizmo, is failing in health. They have had a hard year.

Good puppy news--Graham continues to improve. He's screaming his ping-pong ball size head off in another room right now. My mom is about to go get him and kiss him a bunch. When she puts him back it will be MY turn!!

A sunny Sunday

It's not all sad news here. Graham is still with us. He seems stronger. And it was a great day to close your eyes and relax on the deck in the sun.

This is the latest picture of my cousin, Cesar. He likes to run in the dog park and goes to puppy school.

Our friend Eduardo the SnugglePuggle needs all our pawsitive thoughts for his mom who is in the hospital. He helped my mom feel better with his powerful snuggling now he needs all our help! Please visit his site and leave a message. We are thinking of you and your mom, Eduardo!

Graham update and an award

My mom took Graham to the vet Sat. because he was not breathing well. They took x-rays and found he had pneumonia. After a nebulizer treatment with medicines he has gotten a lot stronger. At one point they had decided to have him put to sleep but he suddenly got livelier & they changed their minds. If he was fighting so hard to live then we would help him, which includes tapping his chest and taking him in the shower. He is better so far.

So, please enjoy this video with us that shows him feeling better. We do not know what tomorrow will bring.

Thank you to you all for such kind and loving words. It is impossible to say how much it helps. It just does.

Meanwhile, I have gotten an award! From Jan's Funny Farm and The OP Pack I got this wonderful award. Thank you, JFF and Dakota, Phantom & Thunder! You guys are the best!

We need to award this to others so my mom will work on that after she sleeps.

We lost Marshmallow

My mom tried. The vet tried but our little girl puppy Marshmallow just faded away. My mom held her to the end and made sure she knew she had been loved in this world. That is why we have not been visiting blogs this week.

We still have the little boy who also has problems but is much stronger and we hope will survive. My mom liked the name Graham suggested by Jan's Funny Farm.

This is sad but it is also very much a part of my mom's rescue. No one can really make up for what these doggies lacked in the past. We just do the best we can here and now. If we lose them then we can plan to all meet up at the Bridge one day.

But more important than anything is that for the short time they had on this Earth, unlike so many stray animals, they were loved.

Labor Day

We didn't do much today. My mom worked on her telecommuter job and watched movies.
Here I am visiting with Natalie. She is a sweet girl. We're just friends, I promise! ....No, we're, uh, NOT holding paws here.

My mom apologizes for the hideous blurriness but it's the first & only picture of me meeting the puppies. I think she will get a new camera for Christmas.

Here is the little marshmallow girl. She's just opening her eyes. She makes a LOT of squeaky noises that you can hear at the other end of the house!

Here is the little boy. He's a mellow, sleepy boy. They are just starting to walk.

Pee-Ess--for Jan's Funny Farm--my mom offered to foster these puppies a month ago (before they were born) so the rescue wouldn't have them taken (as in killed) when the mom was spayed--it was a problem, a hideous debate among the rescuers because no one could take the puppies--then they finally called my mom one HOUR before the spay operation (she is the place of last resort). She could not stand the idea of them being killed when they were almost ready to come out so she said yes! Then my MOM had to have an operation so she couldn't take them when she promised--not until this weekend.

They don't have names. We need to think of some. Help!!
