Our hearts are breaking again--a little update

Update--our vet talked to my oncologist and he said that Kinavet can be used for t-cell lymphoma. We already have 2 bottles of Kinavet so Bitey was started on it yesterday. We don't know how well it will work or if it's too late but we will try.There is no cure...but we can hope to slow it down.

My mom apologizes for so much sad news this early in the year but it seems to be happening all at once.

We lost Beau this past Tuesday. On Wednesday. my mom took his brother, Bitey, to be checked because he had a lump under his front leg. It came back positive for lymphoma, too. Two brothers, same cancer at exactly the same time??

Beau and Bitey were born on Labor day 1999. They plopped right out of Baby into my mom's hands. So they both are very, very special to her.

There is a treatment for lymphoma but it only buys a little time. Six months of chemo and you might get 2 more months after that. The problem with lymphoma is that it never really goes away. The next time the cancer comes back it's more resistant. It's very, very expensive, too.

The simplest treatment is prednisone which is what we are doing. We're feeding Bitey the same diet as me now--special stuff with lots of supplements. We had no warning at all with Beau but maybe it will buy us some extra days with Bitey. At least we know ahead of time which is priceless.

It is sunny today so we are outside. 60 degrees. And Bitey feels good, not a lot of energy for roaching but still able to!

This is our Beautiful Beau. He had to be put to sleep today.

This year is already starting out bad for us.

We don't understand what happened.

He was going to have his teeth cleaned, some removed.

But, instead, we found out he had prostate

cancer--even though he had been snipped long ago.

It hit his kidneys in just days.

He was born in our house on Labor Day 1999. My mom had taken in a pregnant girl who had 5 boys. From that litter my mom kept two--Beau and Mighty Bitey plus the mama she named Baby.

Beau was only 12. We don't understand why this had to happen and it happened so fast. We are sort of stunned right now.

Beau was a quiet boy, always sweet and happy. We are really going to miss you, Beau-Beau.

2011 was not a good year for us. We lost so many of our old hounds. But we did have a foster failure--new Daisy.

In December, we got a new Daisy.

In October we lost Georgia 1994-2011

In July we lost Belle 1992-2011

Also in July my mom lost her main job--the one with insurance. Jobs are extremely scarce for librarians, even ones with computer experience.

In May we lost Bailey 1993-2011

In March we lost Miss Daisy 1990-2011

In February I was diagnosed with a Mast cell tumor--this kind of cancer can appear one time or many times. Our oncologist was not hopeful for a year for me. But it is January 2012 and I am still here!

We are praying that this will be a great year for everyone. I would like to have another Christmas with my Mom, please. Miracles are possible!

Tragedy in DWB communlity

We were horrified to hear about the fire at the house of the Houston Pittie Pack. They lost 5 of their beautiful babies and their house. There is a Chip-In page for them to help in their recovery. The fund has reached its limit but that was set fairly low. Keep giving what you can. But the most important thing is to give moral support and many many prayers. Please let them know you are thinking of them.

Christmas Foster Failure--a New Daisy

Hard to believe...my mom has let dozens of baby beagles slip through her hands and be adopted, even babies that were born at our house. Here was this little 14 lb. girl from South Carolina, one day away from euthanasia...nobody would take her because she had heartworms.

So along came the H.A.N.D. Foundation--Homeless Animals Needing Doctors. They said--the only thing keeping this beautiful little creature from being adopted is a LIGHT CASE of heartworms??? Here's the money to treat it! And they transported her to Tennessee to my mom who offered to foster.

My mom has not had a foster failure since...ME. 5 years. So an animal has to be really really special to stay forever here in this house of beagles.

Even though it means I'm no longer the baby beagle of the pack (everyone else is over 10 years old here) still, this new Daisy is a good girl. She's figured out how to curl up on the hollow of my mom's left shoulder (so my mom can still type around her) and not interfere at all with where I sleep by my mom (left arm of the big chair).

We lost our 22 year old Daisy in April 2011 and my mom said the house was JUST NOT RIGHT without a Daisy in it.

So, we have a new Daisy. She is a wild girl, runs shrieking out the back door to chase any possible bunnies that are dumb enough to come in a beagle yard. (they do, believe it or not but we've never caught one).

This makes my mom very happy so I'm okay with it.

I am six now. My mom chose my gotcha day as my birthday which for humans is called Vet Day. Nov. 11. I came to live with her when I was one. It was the best day ever.

Thank you to everyone for your sympathies about Georgia. My mom is glad she had Georgia for 10 years.

My mom says I'm looking a bit grizzled--does that make me a grizzly?

So far so good no return of the Big C--still here and loving my life in the Big House of Beagles.

Georgia came to my mom from an owner at 7 years old. We've had her ever since. I considered her my girlfriend although she could be kinda crazy at times. She loved me and loved people but was not always friendly to other girl beagles. It's especially sad that she left while my mom was on vacation. Our petsitter took her to our vet and they said nothing more could be done so my mom from far away had to let her go. Our petsitter stayed with Georgia to the end. It's very hard to lose her even though we know she is pain-free now and running around the Bridge. Goodbye my sweet sweet Georgia girl.

My mom's latest favorite movie is LEMONADE MOUTH. You can see it on Netflix.
My mom's favorite food is NY strip. (mine, too, yuh-um!)
~~My mom loves me more than anything on the planet and universe~~...okay, maybe everybody already knows that so I'll add an extra thing on the end.
My mom has a broken nose from a rock fight as a little kid.
My mom's uh 'bird' finger on her right hand was broken in a softball game...when she was a little kid.
My mom fell at work and her shoulder muscles pulled a chip off the bone. Can you say workman's comp? No matter. She says it hurts less everyday and work did pay for her care. Hmm, I don't know...am I sniffing a pattern here??? Like Fight Club kinda pattern???
My mom loves cold, snowy wintry days. We can cuddle by our fireplace.
My mom says she loves RED as her favorite color. I don't know. Everything is pretty much black & white to me.
My mom had carpal tunnel (?) surgery which she says didn't help her hand and hurt like hay-ell.
My mom wants a big ole honkin truck for her birthday...no one knows that but they do now!
My mom intends to be a rich writer. Hah! Who knew??

Sally the Wonderdog

RIP Sally the Wonderdog

We met Sally online on one of the dog cancer discussion groups. She had the same cancer as River -- MCT. We had hoped to have a long time to discuss our various treatments and hopefully successes with her family. She was 13 1/2 years old and the light in her family's eyes. You can see the happy smile she has. We were only able to know her for a month and then she was suddenly gone.

I wanted to write a little about her to celebrate her wonderful life and to let everyone know how generous her family has been to us. They sent us the supplements they had bought for her all the way from another continent. Supplements that I could not afford because I lost my job--so it is extra wonderful. River is doing well and with the supplements hopefully beat the oncologist's prediction for him (about 6 more months). Thank you to Sally for sharing, her family says she was good at sharing.

Bad news, good news part deux

Belle 1992-2011

Since the last post we lost Belle. We've lost Daisy, Bailey and Belle just in the last few months. It's been tough on my mom's heart. Belle was the first dog my mom adopted when she moved to TN. She found Belle at PetSmart. The local humane society was sponsoring her. Belle's foster mom needed to have her moved so my mom paid $30 and took her in. She was part of our family for 16 of her 18 years. I liked her. She was a sweet, shy girl, so gentle. My mom loved her so much she almost waited too long to let her go--she admits it...but Belle told her it was time to go to the Bridge and that she would wait for us.

Last week my mom's job went away, too. Librarians are seen as a luxury and she knew it would happen...but it was 1 1/2 years short of retirement...so close and yet...but she always plans for things. She has a consultant job on the internet that supports us just no benefits for her. Ha, it means she needs to stay healthy until retirement, like lose weight...just sayin', Mom.

Meanwhile, good news I am still here! This is me and Baby in the sun--wow, Baby looks like a little pig there and she doesn't in real life. I know that the future is uncertain so we really enjoy each day together now. They have not cured my bladder infection yet. We're waiting for a week without anti-biotics to get a better culture. Because my mom is not making as much money we cannot do chemo anymore. That stuff is expensive! There are other options--a good diet and prednisone. MCT type cancers are somehow related to overproduction of histamines so benedryl is a large part of the treatment and that's cheap. Lots of dog moms choose this path so it is not better or worse than chemo just different.

Don't worry...working at home lets my mom do her creative stuff which she really enjoys. She has her old book published by Random House up on Amazon as an ebook now. It is selling a little bit (it's for a small readership of historicals called Regencies).

Because she is a computer librarian she formats all styles herself and designs covers, plus designs websites (one way she makes money). She plans to have something like 4 more books up for sale before the end of the year. Her plan always was to write when she retired, we're just starting early. The plan is to supplement her retirement with a LOT of money from writing lol. Hey, just wait till she gets her YA paranormals up...and all her books have dogs in them so we serve as characters, too.

More good news--we took in a mama beagle named Rumor. She had her pups in the bottom of our bathroom linen closet. Here is a video of them at about 5 weeks. They made a LOT of noise:

They are all up for adoption. I think two are promised already but 4 are left. They are gorgeous little beagles. I know I probably looked like them when I was little bol.

Look for them on http://www.sosbeagles.org/. My mom often fosters for them. How did she end up not keeping all of them? She doesn't know.

And someone asked about the weim puppies. The mama, Luna, has been adopted. She was a goofy, funny girl. Selena, the girl, has been adopted. Her brother, Simon, had problems from the start--we thought maybe he had 'failure to thrive' but it turned out he had some weird problem with no bacteria in his stomach. He has been moved to another foster mom who has more time and experience to take care of him. He is thriving now and will be adopted out soon. So it ended happily for everyone.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the summer. It's finally gotten a little cooler here and the storms are not so scary. Yes, we had a tornado come by in May. It shredded our woods but did not hurt the house. Left our area without electricity for ages. We learned to live with little battery operated fans. Next year we're getting a generator so we can run a BIG fan. Or maybe we'll all go stay in a hotel with air.

I miss everyone very much but with my mom being home we will be able to keep up better!

Good news and bad news

The good news is that I'm okay. I have a bladder infection and we are treating that. The cancer has not returned although it can at any time.

The bad news is that we lost Bailey yesterday. He was about 18 and not doing so well so my mom decided to let him go. He came to us long before I did. His owner surrendered him because he was digging holes in the yard--not because she wanted to but because her landlord made her. He dug a lot of holes in our yard, too, his first couple years but stopped and just became a couch potato. My mom says he was always a silvery gray beagle. We will miss him.

Backyard fun in sun

Meet some of our gang and fosters on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Very pretty sky. My mom thought of Daisy. Daisy died last weekend when it was cold and rainy. Even though she was blind, Daisy loved being in the sun. We celebrated her life today.

She was just a baby running loose at a craft fair 2 decades ago. My mom caught her and drove her home and sang "How much is that Daisy in the window?" so Daisy would feel better and not be scared anymore.

She was always at my mom's left side and guarded the position with some mighty chomps on anyone who came near. She and Pongo were best buds for 15 years until Pongo died 2 years ago. Now they are both running and howling together again at the Bridge.

My mom and I will really miss her.

Here I am looking at my mom as she is typing. Mousse is right behind me. He's always by my mom's side, too.

We think I look much better. The oncologist vet changed my medicine to 3x a week and added a stomach medicine called Cerenia. My appetite is good. My mom is still working on my diet. Stanislaw my beautiful shiny cocker friend suggested B-naturals site with some great recipes for home-cooked meals.

Uh, except my mom is no cook. Her mom is a terrific cook but my mom didn't inherit that gene. However, the diet is simple like hamburger, broccoli, squash and supplements;sometimes chicken and vegetables, sometimes salmon. My mom thinks she'll go on my diet except for her she means to lose weight. For me, it's to be grain free--for a while. This is a test to see if it will help defeat the cancer.

Look at this!! My mom is fostering a weimerainer (sp?) she is named Luna. That dog has RED eyes--not!

Nobody and we mean NOBODY suspected this dog was going to have puppies. She was skinny and we were plumping her up to have her spayed. But wow! PLOP!! PLOP!! Yesterday morning suddenly we had 2 beautiful grey brown babies, a boy and a girl.

We are so surprised we can't think of names yet. Luna is a crazy happy girl, very smart but we can't adopt her out now until the puppies are old enough. So we get to have her 2 more months. This is a happy thing.

My mom will soon have a book or two up on Amazon. I guess that makes THREE jobs but writing is what she loves after me.

Okay, Mom, I'm taking away the keyboard now. Time for some serious cuddling!!

I look drugged don't I?

I'm okay. My first checkup was very good. And no new lumps. This kind of cancer can come up very fast so we look everyday.

My only problem is a lot less energy. I am lethargic according to my mom. So my oncologist vet said to give the kinavet just on Mon., Wed., & Fri. That helped a lot. I was dancing round when my mom came home tonight.

My nose is shiny.

My eyes are bright--uh, well, they look glassy but the vet said 'bright'.

I am comfortable right now. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. Right now is good and we are happy with that.

Who knows about tomorrow? We will think about that another day.

The start of the treatment

From River's mom:

River was taken to another room while I sat in the patient's room. They took blood, x-rays, ultrasound. The oncologist came into the room to speak to me without River so he does not know all this.

He had a grade 2 Mast Cell Tumor. The pathologist said the edges were fairly clean which is good but he couldn't guarantee perfectly clean. The oncologist gave me 3 options for treatment--prednisone/chemo, Palladia, or Kinavet. With River's cancer I could have elected to hope for the 50% non-return but I chose to treat it with a hard punch. Kinavet is the toughest since it is specifically designed for MCT.

It's not cheap and I am working 2 jobs to treat him as long as I can. I am researching holistic lifestyle/diet, supplements, etc.

His first Kinavet pill was yesterday. His energy took a hit and he was sort of unmoving all night. But by this morning he was back to normal. I have already started him on colostrum.

He is happy now and well. I can only pray it will stay that way.

A nice weekend

I feel good although the benedryl makes me sleepy. My appetite is good. The weather was fine--almost 60 degrees so my mom was washing quilts and blankets and hanging them outside while we played in the yard.

This picture looks kind of weird because my mom put a blue towel over my boy bit but it is the picture of my scar--about 3 inches long just above it. My vet is a jolly girl. She said it looks like I was SPAYED!! Wow, that's kind of funny...not! She said I had plenty of skin to close the opening so I didn't become a SIDESHOOTER. Oh, haha. She's a nice lady, very smart. She sent all my information to a specialist.

I will be going to RIVER next Tuesday for a consultation. Vets come from UTK (Univ. of Knoxville) vet. school to take care of us. RIVER stands for Regional Institute for Veterinary Emergencies and Referrals.

Here is an interesting thing--I am named after this clinic! I was hit by a car and broke my leg 3 years ago. A nice lady took me to RIVER. SOS Beagles took me in and my mom was my foster mom. I am a failed foster. Everyone at the clinic is excited to see me again--not happy because of the big C but because they really liked me.

Out in the yard--all snow is gone. Then back in the house to sit on my mom's lap while she works on the computer. She is working 2 jobs to pay for my treatment. She says she will do all a human can do for me.

Please visit my friend Daisy the pink pitbull. She was also just diagnosed with the big C. She is a sweet and beautiful girl.We are going to fight this together!

Bad news--the Big C

My vet took as much of the lump and the skin and fat around it as she could. She said it's not the worst it could be but it is a mast cell tumor grade 2 -- 3 is the worst. The pathologist said he couldn't say we got all of it but it looked pretty clean around the edges. Any more and she would have had to take the stomach muscle which would cause a hernia, probably.

The treatment is a mild chemo and prednisone. I thought I would let everyone know the steps of the treatment and about mast cells. I will go see a specialist who my vet trusts completely and we will get all the info about the future.

Meanwhile, because mast cells send out histamines I am to take benedryl twice a day. Mast cells also cause ulcers so I am to take 10mg. of pepcid twice a day. My vet said if you squeeze a mast cell tumor it can actually kill a dog by flooding the body with histamines and they go into shock and can't breathe. Grade 1 mast cells can appear to be 'skin tags' and fool you. Where my lump appeared is rare--usually it's on the side and vets will take the muscle part then.

I am young and strong and my mom will treat me like she always has--like I'm precious.

Hi everydog, my mom found a lump on my belly last night and took me to the vet's this morning. We will know a little more this afternoon after my operation. Don't know if it is cancer, might not know right away. Thanks for all the prayers. My mom says I am her heartdog so this is really hard for her.

UPDATE 3pm EST
From River's mom:
River is out of surgery and doing well. The vet cut a good margin around and below the lump and will send it off to be looked at. His bloodwork was very good, all mid-normal except for globulen (?) which was a half a point over normal. That could mean infection only. I will pick him up this evening. River is only 5 and beagles are generally extremely healthy. Cancer is rare which is what I'm banking on. Thank you so much for the prayers!!

Humphrey update

Humphrey had his teeth cleaned, 5 pulled, and also 3 benign (but big) lumps off his back. You can see the stitches on his back in the pictures. He was throwing up at the vet's but has not done so at home. He has a good appetite and is resting comfortably in a cage with a fluffy blankie. The vet thinks he is actually 11 years or older.

We read as we can but my mom hasn't had enough energy to post except on FB once in a while. She says she is sorry but she has had pneumonia and bronchitis and flu and ear problems, plus we have no heat right now. Can't fix it till next week. Oh, we have a fireplace and little heaters plus it's always a ten dog night around here.

Please welcome our new boy, Humphrey. He is not a failed foster like me. My mom offered to take him knowing he was unadoptable (too old) and planned to keep him. He is the first since me--that's a good 3 years with no new dogs. Now fosters--we still have a few of those including Mondo, Mickey and now Lassie the beagle.

He is gentle and nice, sleeps on the bed. He even stands in the middle of the bed and barks for my mom to get in there and start sleeping. Except he starts like early afternoon. I like him and I don't like anybody much so he really is special. He has really bad teeth and is going for a cleaning on Friday. We have a sponsor who is going to help! Hurray!

We got a new car so my mom can start transporting again. It's a midnight blue pearl Honda civic. Sadly, we couldn't afford an Odyssey this time. Maybe next time.

Labor Day weekend

Hooray! My mom is home for 3 days and the weather is finally so nice we're all hanging around outside in the yard. Meanwhile my mom is cleaning with all the windows and doors open. I guess you could call it Fall Cleaning.

We are doing better since losing Perry but there is a hole in our hearts from his loss. He was a unique part of our pack.

Also meanwhile we have FIVE fosters--three of them beagles:

This is Brie. She is small, like 15 lbs and came with a terrible case of mange. She is getting all sorts of medicine. Very sweet and cuddly with a high pitched shriek when she wants to be picked up.

This is Mickey. Oh, Mickey you're so fine... He is extremely shy. It's taken weeks for my mom to get him to come to her hand. He wants to so badly. He wiggles and wags but still is afraid. Don't worry, my mom will have him eating out of her hand! bol

This is Armondo or Mondo as he likes to be called. He is a super duper lover boy and a pretty beagle, my mom says.

We can't believe someone would throw this beautiful hound away! Boy, will some family be lucky to have him!

This is Kip, maybe a cattledog mix. He and his sister, Cricket, were found running loose. The rescuers think the other puppies were hit by cars but we got these two.

This is Cricket. They are both hiding on the floor of the Honda. Both are very, very shy but getting better living with our pack.

RIP Perry 1993-2010

River has kindly allowed me to post about Perry.

We lost Perry yesterday. He was 17.

Fifteen years ago I got a call from SOS Beagles about a dog that a man was threatening to shoot. His dog would not hunt--sounds like a joke but in the South that is a serious canine crime. Poor Perry. He was always a bit of a shrinking violet. I picked him up, intending to foster. I adopted him out once but it didn't work out. I didn't want him to suffer another big change like that so I kept him.

Last Wednesday he started throwing up and refused to eat--always a horror with hounds who dearly love food. He spent the next day at the vet's getting fluids and when I picked him up he was feeling so much better. But he went downhill again immediately.

Almost all of my beagles have died of kidney failure--beagles are so healthy in general but they are prone to cataracts, neck problems and kidney problems in old age. Sometimes it's been chronic, sometimes I have only days to say goodbye.

I kept him with me in the bed all Friday night then we sat out on the back deck in the sun Saturday morning. This is the way I like to say goodbye--to share our last moments together in the sun. And I am so grateful when I have a chance to do exactly that.

He will be remembered for his soft and staccato aroo!aroo!aroo! when he wanted attention or his dinner. A gentle and shy boy who will be greatly missed by his family.

Run free, sweet Perry Berry. One day we will meet again, thank goodness.

Hi Everydoggie! We have been busy--my Mom was on vacation.

She went to visit her brother in Wisconsin and my cousins.

My mom says they are very nice animals, extremely well-bred.

And look who we had come visit. This beautiful red dobie. He was such a total goofball that my mom called him Wall-EEE. And guess what??!! We found his family! He was picked up running back & forth across a highway where he would have died. He escaped their yard one day and they put up millions of color flyers for him. They gave the rescue a nice reward but the best part was finding his family.

Here is our old Miss Daisy. She will be 21 this October. My mom admits she is looking kinda ragged. The vet just diagnosed her with glaucoma and she is now blind. She gets eyedrops and tramadol. We didn't know that glaucoma can be like a migraine so we are keeping her painfree. There aren't many options for her, we are sad to say, and we are holding her close as long as we can.

Here I am inside. Whew! It's a little cooler. We can't wait for fall!

Happy Independence day!!

We are very busy here. Very busy! And it's a good thing. My mom is finally getting started on renovating our whole house. It will take several people a year or more but the Big Room is the first. My mom will show before and after pictures when she has after pictures.

Sat. morning my mom got up at at the undogly hour of 5 AM to help transport a little coonhound girl named Lovergirl. Here she is:

She has some scars on her nose. Nobody knows what happened to her. Look at those big feet! She is going to be huge. She is going to a good home.

We like what Khyra's mom does when she dedicates her transports in honor of someone. We dedicate this transport in honor of Annie who we lost last year--a little black and tan hound my mom had for 15 years.

This is a baby named Rosco that belongs to a friend of my mom's. She said Rosco is really sweet and gentle.

The lawn has been mowed at last--but it's so dry now it looks like a desert.

There are prickly weed stems so I have to be careful where I put down my paws. But we will have a BUSHHOG (sounds scary) come scrape up the land this fall and put down some nice soft Kentucky grass (I don't think there is such a thing as Georgia grass). That will be one hardworking hog.

We have some new fosters coming in a couple weeks. My mom will make movies of them.

When my mom goes on vacation she really goes. Then she needs a vacation from the vacation...

Over Memorial weekend we were left all by ourselves to celebrate the holiday--except for our favorite petsitter who came visit us and play with us.

Meanwhile my mom went north to Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She had a collie puppy named Gilroy with her from a shelter in Ga going to Castaway Critters in Pa. Here is Gilroy. He stayed with us for a week. Everybody really liked him. And he is already adopted!.

She packed him up and took him with her. Not fair! Except I hate to travel... Anyway my mom left at noon and at 2pm she picked up 2 beagles in Knoxville. They were traveling to NJ to SOS Beagles.

On the road thru the Va. mountains:

My mom stopped in Staunton, Va at a dog friendly hotel she found through Bringfido.com--a great site if you like to travel. She said all the doggies were very good and slept well. Here are the beagles in the hotel. This is Clover. She had to sleep smashed up against my mom the way I like to.

This is Stitch. He had a whole bed to himself.

Then my mom went on the the Jersey shore for a beaglefest! She only had a few pictures from that. Then she walked on the beach.

She came home on Sunday and found out our pitbull baby foster had been adopted! Hurray!

Isn't she a cutie? My mom named her KC for Kinda Cute or Kinda Crazy--she's a very wiggly beast. We are trying real hard to find her a furever family. She's about 4 months old.

Felix is still with us--there was a delay in his transport. He's leaving tomorrow morning (Thurs) for the North. BUT, my mom got a funny video of him on Mother's Day. Felix who loves to grab something, anything and run around and around and around in the yard--he, uh, grabbed an UNDERGARMENT. Now, this undergarment is only a little smaller than Felix so he had trouble with his usual fast run. Anyway, my mom thought it was funny...

He is a cool little dude and we will miss him.

It's now summer in Georgia, hot and steamy, but my mom got the AC fixed so we can stay cool. She still hasn't mowed the lawn even though the lawnmower works now....

Spring!

We had a very cold snowy winter. For a while, a very hot spring. Yesterday we had wind and rain and tornadoes. My mom swears she heard a 'train' in the distance which might have been the tornado that touched down near here. But we are safe today and the electricity only went off once and came right back on.

It's windy and sunny today. Of course, you notice the grass grew 6" OVERNIGHT and my mom's mower is in the shop. It's jungle back here now.

See how windy it is. The windchimes are going crazy. I can really feel the wind in my fur.

Here is our new pit baby playing with Felix. My mom was going to call her Blossom but that didn't fit. She's wild and crazy and so very sweet. I think her name is Kacy now. Everyone here loves her--I mean all the beagles. It's the first time somedog (and Davoo you know who you are) hasn't tried to nip the new doggie. She wiggles so much my mom can't hold on to her.

This is Felix's adoption video. And guess what?!! He is going north next week!! That will leave us with only one foster dog for now. We will work on a video for her.

Dot the coonhound has a home!!

Harley the pretty boy cattle dog mix has a home!!

Dolly the dachshund mix has a home!!

They have lived with us for almost 6 months and all of a sudden everybody has a furever home! We still have Felix, Dolly's brother. He is a shy boy but will be a great doggie for some family.

Look at these beautiful pit babies--the picture doesn't show the Hershey bar chocolate color they are. So pretty! My mom helped with their transport today. They are Toby and Sadie going to a rescue up north and eventually a furever family!

Here is a nice Saturday stroll in our backyard. It is a great sunny weekend for Easter. My mom has 3 days to spend with us and our fosters who will leave next week. I hope everyone has a nice holiday.

My mom saw an eye specialist today and although there are many unspellable (a word?) words, the final diagnosis is it is treatable! The dr wants her to stay home with us for the next five days. Hurray!!
...I mean, uh, I'm so sorry she's sick but we're glad she can stay home.

We had a good week--only a little snow. My mom's mom lives in Virginia and they got 2 feet of snow! Two feet--that's like a human!

We really enjoyed Mango Minster! Congratulations to all the winners so far.

We are sending good vibes to Max, a beautiful boy who is not well and has not gotten good news. Today he is getting pictures with his family and reminds us all to make sure we have pictures of us with our families.

Our friend, Scarlet, got her new wheels! And it was thanks to all of us around the world. She looks very happy.

We are enjoying a quiet Sunday! Everyone is sleeping and snoring while my mom watches the Puppy Bowl. Hey, a beagle scored a touchdown!

Extreme snow zoomies

We have been away for a few weeks because my mom has been so tired. Not from celebrating her birthday just from working too much. I wanted to tell everyone about our snow! We had 5 whole inches come down on Friday. My mom got off early from work and it took her 4 hours to get home. She said the roads, even the big highway, were terrible but her Honda (and the fact that she is a Yankee with experience in snow driving) got her home to us.

It was up to my CHEST in the backyard so I had to leap around like a kangaroo. Dot the coonhound also loved running around with me. Anybody want some snow? We have plenty now!

Snow zoomies and a birthday

Happy birthday to my mom! She is fortyeleven years old. Okay, she's really more than that but that's as high as I can count. We had pancakes for breakfast, better than a cake! Part of my present is keeping her warm.

We had snow this week, a whopping 2 inches so everything was closed Friday and Saturday. Sounds silly but there was a lot of ice because of the low temperatures. We had plenty of food and firelogs. No trees fell which is rare for this land so my mom continued to have internet and electricity. Even the sun is shining. It's a pretty day for her birthday with a high of 27.

We enjoyed the snow. My mom made a snow zoomies video.

Here is some of my mom's trip to Virginia. There was lots of snow in the mountains.
These are pictures from the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk.

Here is Dot happy to see Mom is home. Dot is going to California through this cool group called Pilots 'n Paws. All our other foster dogs are gone! Bella, Maizie, Billy, and the puppies Annie, Dolly and Felix. She says she didn't knock down the curtains.

Meanwhile, on the way back from Va my mom's vet called and asked if she could find a home for this beagle named Shadow. Isn't she cute? She comes from a family who lost their home. She's about five years old and is a big couch potato. I like her a lot better than the puppies. Besides, she looks just like Georgia!

Our Sunday was dark & chilly. This is a view from the west side of our house.

Snow in Ga and a parade

It's cold here in Georgia today and it snowed! Well, not a whole lot, just enough to cover the treadmills....

and the car in the front....

My mom asked if I wanted to go to a local parade. Her friend was one of the judges and we'd be sitting up on the courthouse steps. I thought, on one paw, I'm with my mom, but on the other three paws it was supposed to be 25 degrees! I decided on staying warm this time!

She did see some neat animals like a llama and a mini donkey.

And here is a video of the parade itself. Half the parade was fire engines--a matter of great civic pride in these parts.

This is Scarlet. We saw her picture on Lorenza's site. Scarlet lives in the Phillippines. She needs a wheeled cart to make her life so much better. A lab organization has promised $500. Weekend in Ga

Saturday morning. Some bad beagle dragged a trashbag outside so we could examine it. We examined it real good, don't you think?

My mom helped transport 2 brittany babies yesterday. This is Dexter and Jake, brothers, only 13 weeks old, going from rescue in Michigan to their furever home in Florida. At this age on a transport the babies are not allowed to touch the ground (because of possible diseases like parvo) so they were in their crate all day. By the time my mom got them they had pooped all over themselves. The driver before her tried to clean them but we don't have any bathtubs on the road. She said they were kinda stinky!

Here they are overnight in Atlanta. They look so sweet there. I'm sure I would have liked them.They both had baths finally. As of now, they are with their new family for the holidays.

Today it is chilly and rainy in Georgia so we're chillin' inside all day. My mom even took 2 naps! We love naps. (that's Billy a foster beagle with the laser eyes behind me).

She even fired up a firelog for us. She will be home with us all week. This is going to be a terrific holiday!

Good news Sunday

Good news! The chihuahua family is gone. They are on their way to a new life.
No more of this nerve-wracking watching out for puppies so I can relax life!

Dot had her second treatment for heartworms and did great. We will soon have a transport for her to go to the rescue on the west coast in San Diego.

The sun is out at last and it looks like we will have a sunny week!

We are still swamped with the puppies but we have a big yard for everyone to run in. Dot is feeling much better after her heartworm treatment and has fun shredding some bedding. My mom has been off to a science fiction convention where she got to talk about writing. Her life is exciting, ours not so much but we like it that way!

It's sunny here in north Georgia. We love it. This is a coonhound named Dot who came to visit for a little while. She was rescued long distance by a group in San Diego but needed a place to stay while she heals from heartworm treatment until she can go all the way out to California. You can see me getting to know her in this picture.

She was found at a trash dump, very skinny. Many people worked to save her because she is young, timid and very, very sweet. Someone will have a terrific dog in her!

Rain Goes away at last!

From the last blog to this one we have been rained on. Our whole valley is now a disaster area! We live on a little hill so we missed the raging creeks. And we got a new roof not long ago so we stayed dry--bol mostly because we refused to go out in the rain!! We're not ducks or labradogs. We hate getting our feet wet.

It was still raining yesterday when my mom transported this old brittany guy. He went from Georgia to Ontario. He wouldn't look at the camera. He must have had that training from the Army of Four.

It's sunny today and cool at last. I'm snorting around the yard, looking into all the holes that Sweetie was digging. Sweetie is the mama chihuahua. We both like to lie in my mom's lap. She is a nice dog, very quiet but seems to like to dig. I didn't find anything worth eating in all those holes.

Sniff, sniff, snort, snort. That's Sweetie next to me.

It's so nice to be out in the yard again.

Puppy Overload

Hi! We are drowning in puppies. People need to stop throwing them away! Just stop it! I don't like to play with them but they deserve to live and have a good and loving home.

It was a beautiful day at our house today and we were all out in the yard socializing the puppies. We got 3 more that were dumped on a local golf course. Luckily one of the neighbors to the course took them in and called the rescue. All our puppies are fixed and will be leaving soon. They are the very lucky ones.

Chocolate Mousse (he is a chocolate beagle) is very good with them. He likes to put his paw on them.

Here is one of the golf course babies. Her eyes are kinda spooky, like african bushbabies--all 3 puppies have those eyes. Nobody can figure out what kind of mix they are but they won't be very big dogs. They are also very shy.

Ah, a peaceful day in the sun.

Yeah, right. Look what's really going on behind my back! Sigh. My mom will miss them when they go but I'm ready for a puppy break!

A loss, a Tag and an award

My mom has never posted this picture before. This shows you how she feeds us. She throws it out on the ground like we are CHICKENS! It's humiliating. But, being beagles who live for food--we don't refuse and we actually enjoy the hunt. No, she doesn't really feed us that way. Eh, she made me type that.

My mom also wants me to apologize to my chihuahua friends for calling the puppies biteyface rats. Well, I am sorry to have offended but I would call ANY puppy a biteyface rat so I am not being breedist. My mom really likes these little beasts (who might be going to new homes as soon as next week).

We had a quiet weekend. My mom almost helped transport a brittany boy but it was cancelled--he will go again another time. Instead she stayed home with us and played and worked on the Flying Monkeys. She really needs to think up a better title for that novel...

Waterbowl tales

It is a beautiful day in our neighborhood. Clear sky, low humidity. It makes my mom so happy she is out dancing on the lawn with all the crazy creatures.

She traveled to the big city and came back with SEVEN doggies. Six are babies--she thinks chihuahua/terrier--and one is the mama. They are very skinny. The people who rescued them could not afford to feed them so the black lab rescue took them.

They are old enough to be fixed (and have been) but my mom's hand is bigger than 2 of their heads!!

I'm not pleased with this bunch. They are like six little biteyface rats. I still have Maisy and Bella for another week and with this nice weather I'm out running with them.

Here they are drinking water. I mean, big deal. They will be going to Kim's Foster Dogs up north pretty soon.

Meanwhile, I'm staying outside in the sun with my girls.

We have a new camera! My mom got a Nikon coolpix on sale at Wal-Mart. One day, she says, we will have a Nikon SLR. I don't know what that is.

Bella, who is very tiny, no more than 15 lbs. You can barely see her spotted toes. She has long skinny toes like Summer.

Here my mom is telling me to go out in the yard and play with the puppies. Usually I won't do it but I like these two girls.

Well, my mom borrowed a camera. The pictures are on the camera but not on the card. She only has a card reader not a camera cable (her friend lost hers). Does this make sense? It means we still can't see any pictures.

My mom looked at new cameras. We will get a new one this week.

It was very hot today. 100 degrees. So my mom let us run around in the yard in the morning but we all took a nap in the afternoon.

The new puppies are good dogs. My mom named the big girl, Maisy, after a famous mouse (eh???) and can't think of a name for the other puppy. She looks like a black viszla mixed with dalmatian. She is a timid girl but is improving the longer she is here. I am helping keep the puppies on their toes by howling at them. They don't seem to believe me when I say, go lie down on the couch now! We were supposed to get six more puppies today but nobody called so we just relaxed. Boring for a blog but unusual and nice for all of us!

Have a good week everybody. I think my mom will be taking pictures again this week so I'll have my handsome self back on the web again!

My mom is very annoyed. She has not found the camera. She agrees with the Dughallmor beagles that AFTER she buys a new one she will find it. Otherwise, we have to think the worst of human beings, that they stole it from her suitcase. You do not want to annoy my mom!!

To trick the universe, she is going to buy a cheap one time use...

We have a little labragurl to foster now named Maisy. She is wild and smart and sweet. Mousse loves to run in the yard with her. And this weekend we will rescue 6 puppies from a bad place.

Tonight she is transporting a beagle named Peaches sponsored by SOS Beagles and Luke the English Setter sponsored by Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue. She tries to do transports early or late in the day because we still have no AC in the car! She will post pictures if we get some.

My mom went to lunch with a rescue buddy and then they went to Wal-Mart. Guess what she brought home?? Well, not to our home but to one of our puppymeister people. A family had 'free puppies' in the barking lot--black lab puppies on the tarmac in the hot sun WITH NO WATER!! My mom swooped down and took them all. She and her friend drove fast to a place with a pool and put them in the water--the puppies were so hot they wouldn't drink. The puppymeister has now taken over and will give them fluids. Mom says that lunch was too exciting. She thinks the puppies will be okay now. Oh, yeah, she borrowed a camera for the transport this evening.

We are very sad to hear about Charlie going to the bridge. His last day was a happy one with his family. We are thinking of them.

My Mom is also sad because she still has not found the camera. She's hopes it was not stolen out of her suitcase and that it's just a case of her being the usual space cadet. She will look around a few more days then will have to get a new one.

The Brittany transport went perfectly. My mom had one boy named Marshall. The transport went through Va picking up 2 more Brittanys. All will end up in Vermont today, she thinks. One of the drivers promised to send pictures so we will post them when they come in. Update: got a picture of Marshall. My mom is holding him for the picture. Isn't he a handsome boy? He looks like he has a chocolate milk mustache...

It was very dry in Milwaukee--they are in a terrible drought. But it made for a very nice vacation for my mom--sunny, low humidity. They visited Taliesin, the S.C. Johnson factory and Wingspread. All places she said I would love to live--lots of floors to run around on and lots of yard. The best thing was the day they spent at the airshow and got to see the Thunderbirds. I like to bark at birds but thunder scares Bitey and Summer here, not me, I'm pretty brave. My mom played with her brother's dog Cesar. He is a big white german sheperd. Very friendly, silly guy, she says, whose favorite toy is Mr. Chicken. Just tell him to get Mr. Chicken and he does!

Today we are enjoying the sunny weather--it was raining this morning--and being with my mom. She is working on her latest novel now with no name.

My mom is home and I'm not leaving her side! She apologizes because she can't find her camera. It's in the house somewhere. When she finds it she will post pictures from her trip to Milwaukee. Meanwhile, she has some transports tomorrow for the Brittany group and maybe rat terriers and it starts at SIX A.M.

Some Sad news

Our friend, Buddy, has cancer. It is bone cancer and it has spread. Please, please visit him and send some love to him and his mom! Buddy has worked as a therapy dog. Boy, will he be missed!!

This is as close as my mom's gotten to a picture of my Elvis impression! Don't blink, you'll miss the right side of my snout lifting up. huhuhuhuhuh.

More sad news: my mom is hitting the road again. She is leaving to visit her brother. She and her mom are going to visit places of Frank Lloyd Wright. I'd be happier if she'd just do this new human thing of STAYCATION!! Sit! Stay, Mom! Oh, rats, she's as bad as a beagle at listening...Food! Food! Well, that got her attention but she's till packing.

Hot Day in Georgia

It was beastly hot here today, humidity very high. Here are 3 of the 4 black puppies we have been fostering. They love the Dead Tread Mill. Look how big they are at 12 weeks, like bigger than beagles full-grown!! They go north this week to new homes. My mom will miss them. I won't!

This is Billy our foster beagle. Looks like he was injured around the eye but he is okay now.

My mom calls him a little Butterbean Beagle. He came with a collar and tag but we have not found the owners. And the rescue hunted every way they could think of...and nobody advertised that they had lost him. So he is safe now with us and we will find him a very good home.

It was so hot my mom set up some shade for us on the deck. She bought a patio umbrella but forgot to buy the base to set it up!! Haha, space cadet mom.

I think I'm ready for a snooze now. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

My grandmom is a lot better. She is out of the hospital and at home. She is allowed to walk in her garden in the sun for a little bit but that is all until she is stronger. All the pawsitive prayers helped! They really did. My mom and I thank all our friends for their help so much.

My mom drove 1800 miles in 6 days and it wore her out for another week. We've been trying to read blogs but even that was hard. She won't leave me again until July.

My mom and her sister saw this guy in the parking lot and he posed for them. bol that is truly a weird human.

What a yummy looking cake. The babies from the litter my mom fostered were 4 years old. But only humans got to eat the cake.

We have had several beeyootiful weekends. This weekend we have some puppies visiting until they go north to the rescue.

Five years ago, LONG before I was even born, my mom fostered a beagle family. This poor beagle mama had been abandoned by her human family. They moved and left her!! The beagle mama went next door and cried on the porch for some help and the neighbors took her to their vet. Their vet knew of SOS Beagles. SOS Beagles asked my mom if she could take the family after the babies were born and she did (ha, like they even needed to ask).

She called the mama Sweet Pea. When the mama was adopted her new family called her Meadow. My mom picked one of the puppies for her friend in NJ (who had already adopted Twinkie--a beagle running loose on a local college campus)

My mom leaves tomorrow so I am sticking close to her, even closer than usual. We know what happens when the suitcases come out. First she is going to visit her family then she is going to a BEAGLEFEST. There she will see some of the Sweet Pea family! I know she is excited but I am NOT. We will have our favorite petsitter who comes and plays with us but I want my mom! Please don't go!!

She says she will send us pictures that our petsitter can show us. And when she gets back she will help me celebrate my first blogoversary! I hope she brings me lots of presents.

I know it will make her happy to see those beagles again...but I wish she wouldn't go...

PUPDATE: Martha Basset suggested we name the new puppy Honey in honor of Honey the golden retriever who went to the Bridge recently. She is now our new HONEY!!

Hi everyone! This is one weird tongue picture. We are watching Dogs 101 with the beagles on it.

Gayle and Oprah have gone to the vet's to be spayed. The vet thinks they are part Boston terrier. What do you all think? My mom votes for boxer mix.

Here is ANOTHER little girl. Would you believe my mom found her in a parking lot. This puppy just popped out from under a bush and walked on the blacktop to my mom! We don't know what she is. This is quite a puzzle. We haven't named her yet. If you have an idea for a name let us know!

Rain and rain and rain

Our backyard is a bog, almost a pond with the extreme rain we've been having. Too wet to mow so we're running around in a jungle.

Here is what was in the box! It was a bag of pumpkin treats and an award from Mango the Relentlessly Huge. My award for runner up in the alternate Westminster.

My mom apologizes--between health issues and equipment failure she hasn't been able to upload pictures.

This is where my mom went walking several weeks ago. It was a beautiful day by the river.
Then she visited where the Irish pub used to be. It's a Taco Mamcita's now. So sad. No pubs anymore to play in.

Can you see the nest? A mama bird built her nest under our porch roof. My mom tried to get a video of her feeding the babies but the mama bird stayed away when my mom was at the door. It's fun to listen to the babies screech. Sometimes we bark at them.

My mom transports doggies from shelters to their new homes and rescues. This lady, Kelly Gibson, is the miracle worker who arranges all the very long (sometimes 3 days long) transports. We had a note to send support and love and donation help immediately to Autumn from my friend Mango the Maltese kiddo. Autumn's little brother needs a brain scan to see what is happening inside. This is a very sad thing. He is going downhill so fast. I hope they will be able to help him.

Clint the Labradoodle is ready for his other hip! He has an appointment at UT at Knoxville vet school next week. 3. I don't like puppies at all but I try to be nice to them.

4. I like to run and run and run.

5. I like to drag my mom's nightrobe around the house with me.

6. I sit in the living room window and wait for my mom to come home from work everyday.

7. I like to play with all the grown foster doggies that we take care of.

8. I only let my mom work on the computer for 10 min. at a time. I think she then deserves a break.

9. If I am 5 feet from my mom I get upset.

10. I love sitting on the Dead Treadmill and watching my mom as she writes.

This is our drive way. You can see the electric pole leaning and the big tree that hit it. It snapped the wires apart. The electric fixers said they just had to heat the wires and splice them. So we're back up and on the net this afternoon!

We had a terrible time yesterday here in north Ga. Bad storms, wind, giant hail and trees falling all around the house. We have no electricity, haven't had for over a day so we're writing this from a friend's house. My mom took pictures--we'll show you what happened when we get a chance to upload. My mom forgot the camera connection.

Puppy Play and River Run

We had a nice weekend, sunny and warm. Rosie played a lot with Oprah and Gayle. BTW, although my mom is a champeen couch potato she didn't name the doggies. They came with those names. The puppies will be leaving for Kim's Foster Dogs up north. Rosie will stay with us for a while. She is on a regimen of antibiotics. It's the new way to treat heartworms--a whole month of doxicillin--this treats any inflammation or anything else that is wrong. It makes the rest of the treatment much easier on the doggie.

Here is Rosie. She is a beagle mix and is heartworm positive so we'll have her visiting for a long time--it takes 3 months for the treatment. She is a gentle, quiet girl. We play together a lot.

Oops. Rosie thinks the computer desk smells real good, good enough to take a bite. No, Rosie, no!

Here are the puppies. On the left is Gayle and the girl on the right is Oprah. They are really good girls, smart and lively. I, myself, do not care for puppies so I don't bother with them but my mom thinks they are fun.

Sunday at home

We appreciate all the kind words from our friends. It helps so much with the terrible pain of losing such a sweet little boy. I am helping my mom, too. Today I stayed outside with her in the yard and the warm sunshine.
Here I am in the yard in my favorite place--the Dead Tredmill--keeping an eye on her.

Back inside the house, I decided to make her laugh with my Neck Gymnastics.

It worked! She laughed!! Especially this picture where I'm nose to nose with Mousse and she knows I don't like him!

Here are Belle and Bailey sleeping in what my mom called the Lima Bean position. They are two of the very old dogs we have here.

We are getting some puppies and a pretty girl named Rosie to foster. Pictures next time.

HOOTIE BOOTIE TUTTIE FRUITIE 1993-2009

River's mom here. This is my beautiful Hootie, only 13 pounds but so much personality. He never met a stranger and everyone remembered him even after meeting all my dogs.

He was little but he was LOUD. Before I ever saw him I heard his howl at the vet's. Hootie was there because he was a stray hit by a car and my vet was taking care of him. I heard that loud, two-tone howl and said I had to have him. The vet said I couldn't have him unless I named him Hootie--it was something Gomer Pyle said on the TV show--hootie hoo! To me he was HootBoot all his life. He stopped howling a month ago and I knew it would be soon I would lose him.

This is Hootie with Sammi on the left and Splicer. All are gone to the Bridge now. It does not get easier to lose them but I know they are waiting for me. Run free and happy, my baby boy, and howl once again.

Good and bad news

My mom has been away at a writer's retreat in the mountains. The good news--which is really terrific news--is that a New York Times bestselling author asked (and my mom says to repeat 'asked') to write the blurb for her next book. How cool is that? Now she needs to write it. It will be a funny book because we need cheering up.

We found out last night that our little old Hootie has bone cancer. He is very weak but not in pain. He still enjoys eating but it wears him out. My mom is thinking of letting him go the Bridge on Saturday--that way she can have him to hug for most of one more day.

We will try to visit everyone this week. And we have a box from Mango that we will open. Something to look forward to!!

Daisy has been adopted!! She has gone to a home in northeast US. They wanted her even before all her operations were done so they could nurture her themselves. Aren't they wonderful?? We are so happy!

Meanwhile Clint has healed from his first surgery and is ready for surgery on his other hip! We need to raise $4500. His water treadmill therapy alone costs the rescue $125 a week. He is such a friendly dog and loved by everyone who meets him. He would have been a great dog for President Obama's family but they chose a Portuguese water dog rather than the labradoodle. My mom is working on his blog today.

Beam me up! More transporting

Another Saturday transport for my mom. This time it was 18 dogs going 800 miles using 37 volunteer drivers to transport them. It makes her feel good so I said it was okay with me. She promised to be back in time to enjoy the sun with us.

She carried three doggies in her Honda. This is Franny the bluetick beagle/doxie. She drooled a lot in the car but was a sweet dog.
My mom also drove Lovey-Dovey the black lab/newf and Clem the red heeler mix. All most excellent dogs according to my mom.

The other car took this girl (Shelly) and 3 others. Isn't she pretty? Her story is very sad though. She came into a shelter starving and pregnant. All her puppies died but one and she had no milk to give so the puppy was bottlefed. She was so good on the trip and such a sweet doggie that everyone fell in love with her. The puppy traveled in a shoebox with a towel.

Shelly looks angelic here. My mom can't believe she got such a good shot with her cheap camera. I think I would love playing with this girl.

I'm glad my mom is home with us now. She is feeling much better and spent the rest of the day outside with us.

This isn't Skywatch Friday but my mom has been so crazy about the sunsets lately she took bunches of pictures. The camera doesn't show all the pretty colors but you can see some--sort of salmon and turquoise. I wonder if it smells like fish up close? The squiggle is bird poop on the car windshield.

We didn't get this up in time for working for the Snuggle Puggle but here I am enjoying Sunday doing what I love to do--which is walking along the cut up tree trunk and hanging out with the pack.

My mom says to say she is sorry. Due to budget cuts, she has lost all her help at work and is now doing the work of SIX people. Yes, she is glad she still has a job but it makes her so tired. I help all I can by keeping her warm. It's been down to 8 degrees at night here!

It was another transport Saturday. My mom drove to Gadsden, Al to pick up 2 English Setters and a beagle. She took pictures in the car because the setters were a little too wild outside the car. She handed them over to another driver in Chattanooga. All 3 were going to NJ & New England.

Since the transport was so early (7am) she was able to get back in time to spend the whole day with us. I have some videos but blogger is not letting us upload them today. We will do that as soon as we blogger lets us!

I borrowed Rocky's candle because we are also praying for our friends. We are thinking of our friends who are in daily pain and some who have to have operations this week. We tried very hard to send out lots of positive vibes by enjoying ourselves and the warm sunny day.

On the Road and working for the Snuggle Puggle

My mom apologizes. This is board meeting month and she just lost her last assistant so all energy is going to work to help keep us in our luxurious surroundings (hahaha, not).

On the road going toward Atlanta, Ga.

She did a transport this past weekend. This is old Tango. His owner had died and Tango ended up in the Knoxville shelter. The Florida dal rescue wanted him so he joined in on the transport.

He woofed and moaned the whole time. Poor old thing. He is 11 years old and very arthritic.At least he will spend his final years in loving comfort.

This is Snickers. He came from up north, going to his furever home in Valdosta, Ga. He kind of growled at Tango so my mom had to keep him in the front seat so Tango could stretch out in the back.

I worked hard this weekend. I helped Brinx play a little. My mom says PLEASE pay no attention to all the torn up toilet paper--it was right after he had sculpted the roll on the couch. It's loud so you might need to turn it down. We were watching The Duchess of Duke Street. I didn't understand it though. But Brinx had a good play session. And he didn't cough at all.

So many sad things have happened in the past couple months that I'm glad I have some happy things to talk about.

My friends, Posh and Sugar, are both going to be okay!! They found out Posh had eaten a ball of yarn (which was removed by an operation) and Sugar has a bacterial infection that will be very easy to cure. Happy news! Aroooo!

My friend, Poppy, of Airedale Heaven is feeling better. Happy news! Aroooo!

My friend, Buddy, had a tumor removed and it was benign! Fantastic news! Aroooo!

Look at this!! This is Brinx one of our foster dogs. He has a severe heartworm infection so he's being treated in slow stages. He had enough energy to sculpt a roll of toilet paper today!
Okay, maybe my mom isn't SO excited about his artistry but it's a good sign. A happy sign! Aroooo!

We're working this evening! We got one picture before the batteries died!

Remember this button? My mom works with Paws for Courage--to help save animals in domestic abuse situations. They have a new way to raise money which we all might be able to help with--old cellphones! Here is the info:

Paws For Courage has partnered with Shelter Alliance to raise money through cell phone recycling. Up to $30 (or more) will be earned for each donated phone. Any members of PFC interested in participating inthe drive can click on the link below for more information on where to send cell phones and to request a free recycling kit. It does not cost you anything to participate in the cell phone drive.
